Issued in Uruguay in 1966 by Famosa, the Ediciones Infantiles Crack set featured players who were participating in the 1966 World Cup, which was held in London from July 11 through July 30 of that year. The set consisted of close to 400 stickers, which varied in size, and were intended to be affixed into an album. Completing certain pages or sections of the album would allow the collector to redeem those stickers for prizes, with the top prize being a replica of the Jules Rimet Trophy, which is awarded to the World Cup winning team. One of the lesser prizes was a set of premium cards issued on heavy card stock and featuring great players from prior World Cup competitions. This Pele card is one of those premiums. Measuring 6 5/8" wide and 8 7/8" tall, the card features a blank back. This example is very well preserved, suggesting that it was highly valued by the lucky collector who redeemed their stickers to obtain this unique Pele collectible. Below you can see a copy of the poster advertising this set, which shows the prizes available for completing sections of the album, as well as the Pele card affixed to Page 9 of the album. As you will see, Pele is referred to as "El Rey" on both the album as well as this premium.
